From Brewery to Tap: AI in Brewery Planning
How can production in breweries and the beverage industry be made more efficient, flexible, and sustainable? This was exactly the question Optiwiser addressed during a webinar as part of the “AI in Practice” series, organized by Private Brauereien Bayern e.V. Our Managing Director Max demonstrated live how modern AI technologies enable companies to accurately forecast demand and optimally manage production processes—from bottling to distribution.
AI-Powered Demand Forecasting for the Beverage Industry
The focus was on how demand planning can be successfully implemented in practice. Using real-world examples, it was demonstrated how breweries can generate reliable forecasts within just a few days using AI.
Various influencing factors are automatically taken into account, including:
● weather conditions
● promotions and campaigns
● holidays and seasonal effects
● changes in consumer behavior
The result: significantly more accurate AI-driven demand planning, enabling companies to adjust volumes early, avoid overproduction, and improve service levels.
From Forecast to Optimized Production
The true strength of AI lies not only in prediction but in its direct application to operational processes. By linking forecasts with production and bottling schedules, breweries can optimize their operations holistically. How these approaches are already being implemented in practice is shown in the ZDF WISO documentary in collaboration with Optiwiser (link to the Optiwiser article) on the topic “Hops, Malt, and AI: The Beer Industry in Transition.”
Companies benefit from:
● more efficient production processes
● better utilization of equipment
● lower inventory levels
● reduced waste and spoilage
Fast Implementation and Measurable Value
A key takeaway from the webinar was the speed of implementation: AI solutions such as Predictwiser.Cloud can be integrated into existing processes without complex IT projects and deliver tangible results within a very short time.
This opens up new opportunities, especially for mid-sized breweries, to modernize their planning and gain a competitive advantage, without high entry barriers.
Exchange and Insights from Practice
In addition to the live demonstration, the webinar provided a valuable platform for exchange between industry experts and companies. The discussion clearly showed that interest in AI in supply chain and production planning continues to grow.
Special thanks go to Kilian Kittl and the entire team at Private Brauereien Bayern e.V. for the excellent organization, as well as to all participants for the open and practical exchange.
Conclusion: AI Becomes a Key Success Factor in Brewery Planning
The event clearly demonstrates:
AI-powered planning is no longer a topic of the future, but a decisive success factor for breweries and beverage manufacturers.
Companies that adopt intelligent forecasting and automated planning early benefit from:
● greater planning reliability
● more efficient processes
● sustainable use of resources
● and a more resilient supply chain
